Achievement, commendation medals awarded to GARB Airmen

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. --  Recognizing their meritorious achievements and service, Air Force leaders here recently awarded 13 Grissom with either Air Force Commendation Medals or Air Force Achievement Medals.

The following were awarded the commendation medal, which was authorized in 1958, for award to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who, while serving in any capacity with the Air Force, distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement and service.
  • Capt. Carmella Percy, 434th Aerospace Medicine Squadron
  • Master Sgt. William Mezel, 434th Security Forces Squadron
  • Tech. Sgt. Catherine Devine, 434th SFS
  • Tech. Sgt. Brett Jaynes, 434th Communications Squadron
  • Tech. Sgt. Leslie Nance, 434th SFS
  • Tech. Sgt. Mark Orders-Woempner, 434th Air Refueling Wing
  • Tech. Sgt. David Rooke, 434th SFS
  • Staff Sgt. Chris Bolen, 434th ARW
  • Staff Sgt. Dustin Devine, 434th SFS
  • Staff Sgt. Gabriel Girard, 434th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.
The following Airmen were awarded the achievement medal, which was authorized in 1980 and is awarded to Air Force personnel for outstanding achievement or meritorious service rendered specifically on behalf of the Air Force.
  • Master Sgt. Cathleen Castleberry, 434th AMDS
  • Tech. Sgt. Trisha Best, 434th AMDS
  • Staff Sgt. Clayton Duncan, 434th AMDS
The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.
