Grissom Airmen and people around the country took time to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, an event that fundamentally changed America and impacted many lives.

During morning reveille, more than 100 members of the 434th Air Refueling Wing stood in formation and saluted the American Flag as it was raised and then lowered to half-staff here Sept. 11 in remembrance of those who lost their lives eleven years ago.

"It's a showing of respect for our fallen comrades," said Chief Master Sgt. Karen Perkins, 434th ARW command chief.

The 9/11 attacks have also directly affected many of Grissom's Airmen, who have deployed around the world in support of operations since that day.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command.
