434th ARW to host annual awards banquet

Each year, time is set aside to honor Grissom Airmen who exemplify the Air Force core values to the fullest extent through their actions and commitment to duty.

Grissom nominees, Airmen, friends and family will gather once again at the Grissom dining facility March 4 during the 2017 Grissom Annual Awards Banquet.

“I hope we have a great turnout for our awards banquet,” said Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander. “This a great opportunity to recognize Grissom’s best and brightest and I encourage everyone to come celebrate the achievements of these incredible individuals.”

The following are the annual awards nominees:

Field grade officer:

This year’s guest speaker will be Brig. Gen. Jeff Pennington, Curtis E. LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education commander’s mobilization assistant.

Tickets for the event can be purchased to Airmen’s first sergeant and are $25 for senior airmen and below, $30 for staff sergeants through chief master sgts. and $35 for officers and civilians. Nominees and their guests are free, courtesy of the Grissom Community Council.
Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will start at 6 p.m.

Uniform of the day will be mess dress for officers, semi-formal or mess dress for enlisted. Civilians are asked to dress in evening gown for women and suit and tie for men.

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
