Airmen from Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind., gathered at Boomer’s Café Sept. 18, to celebrate the 70th Birthday of the U.S. Air Force.

To commemorate the occasion, the dining facility staff provided cake and ice cream for those in attendance.

“This is a historic day,” said Col. Larry Shaw, 434th Air Refueling Wing commander. “We’ve come a long way as a force in 70 years, and it is important to reflect on our heritage as we forge into the future.”

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
