Grissom provides financial counseling for Airmen

GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Grissom’s Airman and Family Readiness Center is reaching out to Airmen who are interested in assistance with financial planning and debt management.

Katina Dimitro, 434th Force Support Squadron A&FRC financial counselor, works with Airmen to provide resources and information to help them tackle student loan debt or poor credit scores.

“We can help them not only assess their situation, but ensure they are taking the correct steps in managing debt,” said Dimitro. “We can also help them repair their credit, completely free of charge.”

Low credit scores and loan debt have the potential to negatively impact Airmen’s careers, said Dimitro. They can affect an Airman’s security clearance, or reduce their ability to get loans.

“We also recommend our services to [family members] who may be in this situation,” said Dimitro.

Any service member or dependent can make an appointment with Dimitro, said Jill Marconi-Pyclik, 434th FSS A&FRC director.

“Calling 765-688-4812 is the best way to guarantee that she will be available to help someone out,” said Marconi-Pyclik. “We also take walk-ins if she has no appointments or if they just have a question.”

Appointments do not necessarily have to be at Grissom, said Marconi.

“She can also meet outside of the base within a 50-mile radius,” she said. “She has traveled a lot to assist members of our military of all branches, including National Guard members,”

The 434th ARW is the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command. Men and women from the Hoosier Wing routinely deploy around the world in support of the Air Force mission.
