Lt. Col. David C. Borden is the Commander, 434 Mission Support Group, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana. He is responsible for supporting the mission of the largest KC-135R Stratotanker unit in the Air Force Reserve Command through a variety of functions including infrastructure, services, logistics, personnel, communications, contracting and security.
Lt. Col. Borden enlisted in the Air Force in 1993 serving 12 years as a Command and Control Specialist. In 2005 he received a direct commission as a second lieutenant through the Deserving Airman Commissioning Program. He has served in various positions to include duty officer, functional area analyst, program officer, training manager, and deputy director of operations at Headquarters Air Mobility Command.
In addition, he has been a flight commander and an operations officer twice. He has managed airlift and logistical operations at multiple locations. He is a veteran of Operations DESERT THUNDER, SOUTHERN WATCH, FREEDOM SENTINTAL and numerous other operations and contingencies in support of national objectives.
Prior to his current assignment, Lt. Col. Borden was the Deputy Commander, 434 Mission Support Group, 434th Air Refueling Wing, Grissom ARB, Indiana. In his civilian capacity, he has served in numerous positions at Air Mobility Command, Scott AFB, IL., the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), St. Louis, MO and at Air Force Life Cycle Materiel Center (AFLCMC) Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
