GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE, Ind. -- Jamie Lay, a firefighter with the Grissom Fire Department, looks inside a new EC-145 helicopter used to transport critically ill or wounded patients quickly to appropriate medical treatment facilities. Grissom's firefighters recently got the chance to practice with a local medical transport helicopter crew on how to safely transport and load patients onto a helicopter even when it is running. Getting patient to the appropriate medical facility in the quickest time possible can literally mean the difference between life and death. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Mark R. W.
